100 Things About Me

1. My favorite food is chocolate and peanut butter. I think God made them to go together. And that’s why I became a Mamavation Mom and lost over 17 inches! :-)
2. I don’t like creamy peanut butter at all. Only crunchy for me!
3. If I really want to splurge, I get almond butter. Or coconut peanut butter. Pure heaven.
4. My favorite color is red. Yellow and purple are next on the list.
5. I was born in Kentucky.
6. My dad told me I couldn’t be a teacher (he was a teacher), so I studied media communication and church music in college.
7. Now I’m getting a nursing degree (for free), and I love it.
8. I can watch someone’s insides completely falling out without a problem, but if my son so much as gets a splinter, Hubby has to take care of it. I tell people, “I don’t do family blood.”
9. I got to work in the Summer Olympics in Australia.
10. My husband proposed as soon as I got back.
11. I stay at home with our son and hope to have 1,000 more after I’m done with school. (Ok, maybe not quite that many.)
12. I have watched The Family Band more times than I would ever be able to count.
13. I have only found one other person who knows what this movie is.
14. I think that is a shame. People are missing out.
15. I used to watch The Thorn Birds all the time and made Hubby watch it once, too.
16. My sister is my very bestest friend (and my only sibling).
17. I used to want to go to grad school and be a news producer.
18. Cooking is a huge stress reliever for me.
19. I can pretty much only draw stick figures.
20. I was a premie and was about 5 pounds when I was born.
21. My family has remarked that I always look very innocent in my pictures, and my sister looks a little sly. But really, it’s the other way around.
22. I miss my Granny constantly. She died when I was 7. My other grandparents are gone as well, and I think it’s amazing when people my age still have grandparents around.
23. I have a black lab and a cat. I adopted both from rescue groups.
24. Hubby talks an enormous amount, and I’m quiet.
25. I think that’s why he married me.
26. My son talks an enormous amount, too. Sometimes his grandparents tell him to be quiet.
27. I had a natural childbirth, and it was the best experience of my life.
28. My first concert was Sandi Patty. She brought all the kids up on stage, and we got to sing with her.
29. I am a sucker for Zaxby’s chicken fingers and sweet tea with lemon.
30. I ran cross country and track in high school, but that’s about the only athletic thing I could ever do.
31. I love badminton.
32. I sucked my thumb for a long time.
33. My husband proposed to me in a 15-passenger van.
34. I think my family is addicted to school. We keep going and going and going.
35. I have never had a drink with alcohol in it.
36. The smell of coffee reminds me of my Grandpa’s house growing up. I love it.
37. My dad calls me Sparky.
38. I am a horrible swimmer. I almost drowned the day we did water aerobics in college.
39. We had to tread water in the middle of the pool for an insane amount of time. I had to sneak over to the edge and grab the wall because I couldn’t hold myself up anymore, and my head kept going under water.
40. My sister swims like a fish.
41. I would rather sing/talk in front of an enormous crowd than just a few. Makes me more nervous.
42. I was on Mr. Cartoon when I was little.
43. I hate opening gifts in front of people. It is so much more fun doing it alone.
44. I got horrible shin splints in high school and haven’t been able to run since.
45. I have a ton of spelling bee trophies.
46. I used to LOVE scary movies. I haven’t been able to watch them since I became a mama.
47. I have no idea how to play football. My husband keeps trying to explain it to me, and I just don’t get it.
48. I love soccer, though.
49. My dad was a soccer coach when I was growing up.
50. I got to be the ball girl and fetch the ball.
51. I love when my son says he wants to snuggle me.
52. I breastfed my son for almost 2 years, and it was a struggle the entire way through.
53. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
54. My husband and I didn’t kiss until we were engaged.
55. I worked for a horse-racing magazine.
56. If I don’t want to do something, I ask my husband to do it. And he does! I’m so lucky!
57. I find great security in a full tank of gas.
58. My husband calls me Kiddo.
59. My favorite show is So You Think You Can Dance.
60. But we don’t have tv, so I can’t watch it.
61. I was in the play Annie when I was younger–and a few others.
62. I love to write, but I constantly have to look up whether to use italics or quotation marks.
63. I just found out my mom won a prize at the fair for her quilt and rosemary. Go, YaYa!
64. We call my mom YaYa because that’s what my nephew decided to call her.
65. She originally wanted to be Grammy.
66. We call my dad Papaw because that’s what my nephew decided to call him.
67. He originally wanted to be Granddad.
68. I used to think I would rather be a grandma than a mom.
69. That was before I had my son.
70. I am annoyed by people who have the same faults I do. I think this is more of a reflection on me than them.
71. I love to read and can’t wait to read all my childhood favorites to my son.
72. I think it’s sad when people say on their Facebook profile that they don’t have any favorite books because they don’t like to read.
73. I work at finding my security in my relationship with God and not in other people.
74. I do not like critters of any sort in my house.
75. That’s hard to manage when you live in the country.
76. I love Fiesta.
77. My whole family loves Fiesta.
78. My sister and I love to go shop in the seconds room where they make Fiesta.
79. I like to be prepared for everything.
80. For that reason, I ask my husband a lot of questions about what heaven is going to be like.
81. My sister and I used to watch the crawdads in the creek when we were growing up.
82. I made her catch a chipmunk for me one time, and it bit her.
83. I can’t believe she actually tried to catch it!
84. I passed out in the choir loft in church once and cut my forehead when I hit the pew in front of me.
85. I love watching people.
86. I was terrified of dating until I met my husband.
87. One of our first dates was going bowling with my sister and her boyfriend (now husband).
88. Icebreaker games make me nervous.
89. My husband always has something interesting to say during these games.
90. I sweat until my turn is over.
91. I bleached part of my ballet shoes when I was little and tried to color them with a pink crayon.
92. My sister loves to tell people these stories. There are many.
93. The thought of my sister dying before me makes me cry.
94. I hate saying goodbye.
95. I have never had my ears (or anything else) pierced.
96. I like reading true stories.
97. I thought I didn’t like Brussels sprouts. Then I tried them, and they are super duper!
98. My husband and I met in college and dated for 3 years before we got married. We met on a summer ministry team.
99. I liked his smile.
