Mamavation Monday: P90X Begins!

Watch Lives Change

I got my P90X package a few days ago. I used the end of the week to try some of the workouts, and I’m officially counting today as Day 1 because it’s the beginning of the week, and that makes me happy. c-: I did the Core Synergistics workout today. My core thanked me–in a “I’m going to be sooooo sore tomorrow” kinda way. I like how laid back the host is and that I’ll do a different DVD each day. I’m a fan so far!  And I think my time as a Mamavation Mom prepared me for the challenge of the workouts.

I am using the Team Beachbody Web site, because it schedules all my P90X workouts for the week. All I have to do is click on the date, and it tells me what DVD I’m supposed to do and how long it will take. Love it.

I imagine it will be hard to do it every single day because it’s a long, intense, very structured workout. I’ll be starting a 6-week nursing residency that is going to make it extra challenging. But hopefully that will fly by–especially considering I actually get paid for it now that I’m grad-ee-ated. Yee haw! So I’m just going to do my best and keep reporting back to y’all. And my Fit Friend Myra at My Blessed Life.

Keep ya posted!

The P90X is very intense, but I think it’s a good challenge. And I like the structure. I’m glad Myra from My Blessed Life recommended it to me.

P90X is an amazing workout. I wake up so sore the next day – but I know it is working. Last time through, I didn’t lose any weight (for many reasons) but I lost 1/2″ in my chest and 1″ on my waist. It is great.

The variety keeps me going.

Don’t feel bad if you can only do part of the reps they are doing in the beginning – with time you will be doing amazing things. With push-ups, I started out barely getting 10 on the standard and am up to 22. It is a bit scary when you consider that with the chest and back workout yesterday, I did over 160 total push-ups! I never would have guessed that I would get to that point – struggling to do even 120 the first few times. Some of the other moves, I didn’t have the balance or coordination to do for a while. There were parts that if I was low on time I woudl just skip because they were too hard – now, if I have to abbreviate the workouts I struggle with which part to miss.

Off to do Plyometrics – the Mother of all Workouts!

Good luck!

It scared me, too. But I like it. Even though I’m sore from head-to-toe the next day.

I look forward to seeing how you like P90X over the course of time. There are all kinds of hacked spreadsheets on the interwebs if you need a more customized version of what you are doing. I am heading back to it myself in about another 4 1/2 weeks.
