When Melissa said we were doing avocados this week, I didn’t want to do the typical guacamole. Then one of my Mamavation friends on Twitter said she loves avocado smoothies. I thought that was pretty wild, so I looked up some recipes, and sure enough! People make avocado smoothies. Can you believe it?!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 large ripe avocado
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tsp honey or agave nectar
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries or strawberries
DIRECTIONS
All you have to do is mix the ingredients up in the blender, and you are good to go! Adjust the amount of milk to how thick you like your smoothie.

Thanks so much for this recipe! Avocados were on sale for next to nothing last week so I bought two bagfuls. Got a little carried away and now I have to use them up! I will try the smoothie.

avocados are a fruit and in other parts of the world are used for sweet dishes more than an accompaniment for savory dishes like we do more of here.
I’ve actually made an awesome chocolate pudding recipe with avocado. Essentially it is one very ripe avocado, one ripe banana, up to 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder depending on how chocolatey you want it, and sweetener (I use honey) to taste. Put it all in the food processor and blend it until smooth – you will want to scrape the sides a couple times to make sure it is all blended. It is best after it has been refrigerated for 30 minutes or so.

So how did you like it? We make our avocado smoothie with raw sugar instead of honey because the kids don’t like the after taste of honey when used with smoothies. But we all LOVE avocado smoothie!
Another variation is to add tapioca on the smoothie. When I have time, I boil tapoica first so it’s nice and chewy, then add it to the smoothie. Yum! —@ImAHotMom

Yep, I love avocado smoothies too! So delish and good for you, and can it get any easier than that to whip up something healthy?
