I hope you all are enjoying the new site design from Joy at Five J’s. I’ve been saving an extra-special giveaway to celebrate our first week on WordPress. You all know I love menu planning and could talk about it nonstop. So I was super excited when Ann at Relish! asked if I wanted to give away a 1-year subscription!
Ann let me try out Relish! for a month, and I was impressed with their Web site as soon as I logged in. They have a great feature called the Relish! Bite that gives you a kitchen tip of some sort. Today’s is about slicing citrus fruits. The pictures are beautiful, too.
You can go to the weekly menu, where you select 5 meals and a dessert, and they create the grocery list for you! Or you can select just one meal at a time. It lets you specify how many people you are serving, and you can choose from several different categories, like Kid Friendly, Crockpot, Quick, Vegetarian, and more. They have special sections for Thanksgiving ideas, freezer cooking, tailgating, and appetizers. And if you’re going gluten-free, they have a sister site just for that called Gfree. Another great feature is that all of the recipes are supposed to take 30 minutes or less to prepare. So you save time on menu planning and cooking!
Subscriptions are $7/month, but one Frugal Femina reader will win a subscription for a whole year just by leaving a comment. Check out the details below.
WAYS TO ENTER: (Please remember to leave a comment for each one you do!)
1. Leave a comment telling us about your cooking style. Do you plan a menu each week? Fly by the seat of your pants? Eat out? Since I started menu planning, we have eaten out so much less, and I waste a lot less food!
2. Subscribe to Frugal Femina.
3. Follow Frugal Femina on Twitter.
4. Tweet about the giveaway. You can use this message:

Usually, I just fly by the seat of my pants. I try to have ingredients for meals we like at home so I can just pick one. Here lately though, dinners are getting really boring. I am hoping to start planning better and do more freezing. We’ll see!

I have to eat gluten free because I have celiac disease. I would love to see more about this website/subscription. For our meals, I plan as best as I can and usually try to use what I already have at home. We don’t have much money now, so we make do with as little as possible! This is quite the challenge with my celiac disease, but we manage.

I find mysellf asking my husband that dreaded question every night… “What do you want for dinner?” After way to many minutes of us going back and forth saying “I don’t care, what do you want?” we usually end up either ordering something out or throwing together a less than healthy meal. Now that we are parents, and are down to a single income, this is no longer an option. I’ve been looking for an effective system to plan ahead meals and have pledged that come the New Year we will be on track! Winning this would be a great boost!

If I had to describe my cooking style I would say I’m a Sandra Lee semi homemade person. I use a combination of fresh and convenience foods when preparing dinner. I don’t make my tomato sauce from scratch. When I make cornbread I combine two different kinds of jiffy mixes. I do however try to provide fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains when feeding my family. I check the labels for salt and fats and try to limit the intake of bad fats and salts in the foods I prepare.

My cooking style is easy, simple, fast. I like to throw things together that don’t require a lot of prep. I don’t plan what I cook. It’s just whatever’s in the fridge or whatever is in the pantry. I used to eat out a lot. I’ve stopped to save money.

I love to cook, but with four kids, sometimes I am short on time. On days when I am at home, I like to cook things that simmer on the stove for several hours. Otherwise, we eat meals that are quick and easy. I make a weekly menu plan after getting everyone’s input on what they feel like eating. We don’t eat out much because of the price.
